Hazelstar sat in her den, lost in thought. She thought of her mother, her father. Where were they? Were they dead? She hoped they were dead, so she'd finally be free from their wrath. She was still wondering what she'd done wrong, but it didn't matter. What did matter, was that she'd proved them wrong. She'd worked her entire life to become leader, and she finally earned it. She was proud. She was proud of herself, and she didn't regret her life. She wouldn't have liked it being just sunshine and rainbows. Now that she knew the true meaning of pain and suffering, she'd be able to prevent it in her clan. ShoonderpYou are my everything... 19:59, April 29, 2013 (UTC)

Soaringblaze awoke to find his claws still unsheathed. He quickly sheathed them and tucked them under his flank, before nuzzling Hazelstar, who was looking anxious about something. "What's wrong, Haze?" he soothed, licking her ears. {{SUBST:User:.Feather/Sig}} 20:54, April 29, 2013 (UTC)

Moonshade got up out of his nest, his fur wtill bristling. He poked his head in the leader's den and saw Soaringblaze and Hazelstar. He let out a very loud whimper and looked in Hazelstar's eyes before dashing out into the clearing and resting his head on his paws, tears forming in his eyes. You stupid tom, she loves Soaringblaze, not you. Stop thinking about her.Fernflight Doctor... Who? 01:07, April 30, 2013 (UTC)

Hazelstar glanced at him. "Nothing, Soar, just thinking about my parents and being the worrier I am." She sighed. "It's still early, too early for patrols. You can go back to sleep if you want. I'm going to go take a walk." She rose to her paws, and licked his cheek. ShoonderpYou are my everything... 20:57, April 29, 2013 (UTC)

"Okay. Don't go too far." he murmured. Slowly stretching, his tail rised as he stood up. He walked on stiff legs out of the leaders' den, and wandered towards the fresh-kill pile for breakfast. As he licked his chest fur, he felt a stinging sensation on his chest. Once he had unknotted his fur, he noticed a scar. He covered it up again quickly and took a bite out of a squirrel. {{SUBST:User:.Feather/Sig}} 21:03, April 29, 2013 (UTC)

She nodded, and padded out of her den, and out of camp. Once out of camp, she walked over to a grassy patch of clearing and sat down, beginning to lose herself in her thoughts once again. ShoonDerpLike nobody's around~ 21:05, April 29, 2013 (UTC)

Soaringblaze looked over from his squirrel and saw Moonshade, ears flattening. Despite his disputes with the tom, he slowly walked towards him, trying to deciphre whether he was upset, or just sleeping. "Uh, you okay, Moonshade?" {{SUBST:User:.Feather/Sig}} 06:36, April 30, 2013 (UTC)

Hazelstar thought about it. What if...Darkfur and Birchleaf were in the dark forest? What if their true intent was to destroy her clan, and then kill her? She...couldn't.... Hazelstar got to her paws and ran into camp, and straight to where Soaringblaze was. "Soar...den...now..." she gasped, before sprinting into the comfort of her den. I won't let it." he whispered. "I've protected you this long, and I'm not about to give up. Ever." {{SUBST:User:.Feather/Sig}} 18:56, April 30, 2013 (UTC)

"Liars." Hazelstar hissed. Moonshade walked out of camp, trying to clam down. He felt how Hazelstar had mixed feelings about what was running through her head. Fright, hate, love, and many other things. He wanted to run up to her and tell her how much he cared for her. He knew that if he did, Soaringblaze will find out. He walked along Hazelstar's scent trail, absentmindedly. He bumped into her, lost in his own thoughts. He let out a whimper. I have to tell her. Two things. I know she'll hate me for one, and be awkward around me for the other. "Hazelstar?" He whispered. "Hazelstar, I need to tell you something. You know I care for you right?" He paused, his eyes meeting her's. "No, of course you don't." He took a deep breath. "I visit the Place of No Stars." He said quickly. He shrank back in his fur. He flinched at the look of alarm that Hazelstar was giving him, and felt tears for as the leader took a few steps back. (Srry Neha I rped her a little Dx) Moonshade blinked the tears away. "I don't choose to go there. I just end up there. I know what they're planning. I know they're bad. I'm there to protect us. I mean, protect our Clan." He sighed, knowing he wouldn't be able to tell her the next part. "There are... Two cats there. I want them to die. When I'm taught the killing move... Hazelstar, I promise you, I will kill those two cats. They are residents of the Place of No Stars. So when I kill them... They'll fade. Forever." He looked into her eyes, walking toward her. "You know that I would never ever, not in a million moons, harm you. I couldn't. I can't. Hazelstar, It's because I love you. I know you don't have said feelings toward me, and I don't want you to feel awkward around me. I want you to know that I'm ready to do absolutly anything for you. Anything. I'd happily do anything for you." His voice cracked as he said," Hazelstar, I love you more than you could ever imagine." He turned and let his tail drag in the dust as he walked away, slowly. "Moonshade!" Hazelstar padded over to him. "I...I...don't worry. Soaringblaze and I will probably break up soon. After all, now that I know he's been lying to me, I can't trust him. I just...how could he lie to me like that?" She paused. "So you mean to say you're spying? When I was an apprentice, the elders told me stories of Ivypool, a ThunderClan cat. She pretended to fight for the Dark Forest, and when the final battle came, used her training to fight for the clans. Is that what you're trying to do?" She stared at him, seeing the tears in his eyes, the pain. "I know I haven't been the kindest to you. I apologize from the bottom of my heart. You have truly proved yourself worthy to me. You are much more loyal than Soaringblaze" She spat the name out in disgust. "I'm honored that you could have feelings for a cat like me, but it's too early to know if I return them? All I can say is, things look bright for our relationship. I'm blessed to have a cat like you in my Clan, Moonshade. You are now one of the only cats I trust. The leader's words echoed in his mind. He felt bad for her. Moonshade's heart soared. (No pun intended, I promise) "Exactly!" His eyes lit up at the name Ivypool. His heart lifted even more as the leader continued. Darkfur and Birchleaf. "Those cats... Yes... They are. And I vow to kill them, once and for all." He licked the leader's ear. "They- They said they hated you because you killed your sister. I know that's not true. You loved your sister. She loved you." Moonshade paused. "They said you weren't meant to be born. That you aren't worth anything. That... That you're a murderer. That you're worthless, a mistake. That they'll always be there, haunting you." He shuddered, pressing his side into Hazelstar's. Hazelstar nodded weakly. On the outside she wanted to appear strong, like that didn't faze her. She was clan leader for StarClan's sake! On the inside, her resolve was breaking. All the comments from many moons had pooled together, and taunted her, clawing her in with evil paws. She wanted to believe them, she wanted to believe everything they said, because for all she knew, she was worthless. She had killed Mistfire. She wasn't meant to be born. She was a mistake. The words felt like unsheathed claws digging into her fur. She wanted to go jump off the cliffs and die. Inside, in her heart, she was edging closer and closer to her breaking point. Problem was, no one knew. She was so good at hiding it, no one suspected anything. And that's what she wanted. She didn't want them to know she was weak. She had never been immue to the words spoken by her parents, but all she wanted was to be loved. And it seemed like she wasn't getting any of that anytime soon. Liars and betrayers were at every corner. The cat she trusted most had lied to her. Betrayed her. Played with her heart. And in all honestly, Hazelstar was ready to hand over leadership and join StarClan, by her own paws. ShoonDerpLike nobody's around~ 23:15, April 30, 2013 (UTC)

Moonshade pressed himself against Hazelstar. "Hey, I feel your pain. I can sense it." He whispered. "It's something I've always been good at. Sensing what others are feeling. "You're not worthless. If anything, it's... Soaringblaze. And your parents." He pulled away from her, trying to dive into her thoughts. He couldn't do it. "I can see and hear what others think too. I don't do it often. I hate that part of me. I feel like I'm intruding on the cat. But, Haze, I know you don't want to talk about... well. You know. But, when I try to see what you're thinking, I can't. You have a strong wall, a stone wall blocking your thoughts. I want to help, I really do. But I can't if you don't open up." He mewed, soothingly. He felt waves of distrust and betrayal rolling off of Hazelstar. "I know. You think you can't trust anyone." He hung his head. "I'm sorry. I've been lying to, beaten, berated, looked down upon, my entire life. My mate has betrayed me. I can't start trusting you over night, with my thoughts, and everything. "Pebbleheart!" Hazelstar exclaimed. A surge of comfort rushed through her. She considered the small grey tom a brother, and she loved him. She padded to his side. "Moonshade, Pebbleheart and I are going to talk in my den," she told her mate, as she and Pebbleheart padded toward the large cave. ShoonderpLike nobody’s around~ 02:11, May 13, 2013 (UTC)

Pebbleheart padded into her den, Hazelstar following. "Are you okay?" He asked gently. "You haven't been yourself these past few days." AndrewShoonrun ftw<3 02:15, May 13, 2013 (UTC)

Hazelstar sighed. "I don't know...I'm just so scared, stressed, worried..." She trailed off, as she looked into Pebbleheart's golden eyes. He smiled, waiting for her to continue. "Sometimes I feel like ending it all. But I don't want to tell Moonshade, because I don't want him to worry about me. I think about ending it every day, Pebbleheart. I'm always questioning my reason to live." ShoonderpLike nobody’s around~ 02:17, May 13, 2013 (UTC)

Yellowpaw looked around for her mentor. "Hello?" She called out quietly. She wasn't a fighter, nor a hunter. She didn't know why she was an apprentice, training to be a warrior, but she didn't have much choice. Sighing, the apprentice padded outside the camp to try and search for any mice. She noticed something dash by her paws, and she attempted to lash out and catch it. Yellowpaw sat down in defeat when her paws missed the prey, and she looked around at the forest. What's my fate? She wondered to herself. I don't want to be a kittypet. I can't hunt or fight for myself. Am I really useful to my clan, or am I just a burden? She turned and headed back towards camp. Yowls rose, breaking the evening's silence. Cloudpelt looked around wildly in fear. Rouges were swarming the camp, Lunaclan's leader was dead--this was no situation for a queen--for any cat to be in! And where was her mate? She ran out of the camp as quick as she could go. There she found a white cat darting straight ahead of her, although very far away. "Run Flashfur, run!" she thought. She could see a brown tabby tom gaining on her mate. All of a sudden, Cloudpelt felt claws dig into her neck fur. An orange tabby looked down at her, triumph shining in his eyes. "Not so fast, Mama Cat." he teased. She pushed him off briefly with her back legs, making it that the tom only fell right behind her. She continued running, the same sight ahead. Fortunately, the tom that cut her off only a few moments ago fell behind. But when all three cats reached the pond Lunaclan used for water, Flashfur and the tom started wrestling dangerously close to the pond. All Cloudpelt could do now was watch in horror. Flashfur fell into the pond, and it seemed like the tom saw his chance. He pounced on Flashfur and all Cloudpelt could see then was the tom scratching and batting at him. A black she-cat appeared out of nowhere, and so Cloudpelt ran as fast as she could once again. But, tripping on a twig, she fell and so the black she-cat held her down. When the cat saw her round belly, she softened her gaze, but not so much. "I'll let you live," she started. "But only because you're expecting. Next time, I won't have such mercy." she warned. The she-cat let her go. Bounding off, Cloudpelt let tears side down her face, for the last thing she saw was the brown tabby walking away from the pond with blood on his mouth and paws. ~Swiftcloud

Cloudpelt had found a den not far from Moorclan territory, but she was sure it was out of Moorclan's area. The next morning, it was time for her to give birth to the kits. Cloudpelt decided she could do this herself, although she knew it would be hard. Harder then she had expected back then, before the rouges attacked. In fact, now that she was really thinking about it, would she live? Well, it wouldn't be so bad, now would it? If she died, the kits would die too, but then she, Flashfur, and their kits could all be together as a family. "No!" she thought to herself. Cloudpelt couldn't let herself and her kits die just because her mate died! These kits were all she had left. She had to protect and take care of them. ~Swiftcloud

Black paws steped on the main tunnel room's dusty dirt floor. "So, Raven," An orange cat mewed as the black cat layed two mice on a prey pile. "What was that little thing you had there last night with the gray queen?" Ragged pelted cats stared at the black cat and gossiped about the "little thing", as the orange tom called it. "She was pregnant! I couldn't kill her at that time." she responded freshly. The orange cat glared at her. "Don't take that tone with your leader!" he hissed. The she-cat's ears were instantly down. "Sorry, Fox," she murmured. "Hmph. I saw you talking to the queen while you held her down. What did you say?" the orange cat asked. "I told her that I only let her go for, well, you know the whole pregnancy thing, but I also told her that I'd kill her if we were to ever to make contact again." This made the orange cat angrier again. "But what if she was still pregnant by then?!" he hissed. The she-cat went silent and looked down at her paws, ears still down. "Of course," continued the orange cat. "You're speechless." All the other cats were gossiping even more now. "Silence!" The orange cat hissed. "I'm sure she knows that she did something foolish." He took a rat and bounded away in the tunnel behind him. A white she-cat came up to the black cat and comforted her. "Don't feel bad, Raven," she said. "We all know that's just how Fox is." ~Swiftcloud

Cloudpelt wheezed. She had done it. She had sucessfully given birth to the kits without dying. The afternoon was just starting, and the kits were napping in her grasp. Cloudpelt looked down at the two kits leaning on her fluffy tail. One was a golden tabby she-cat with faded darker stripes, and the other was a light gray tom with a blurred white belly. "So beautiful," Cloudpelt thought. They were so healthy and in greater shape then their mother. "Flashfur, if you can, I hope you're seeing this. I hope you can see our precious wonders," Cloudpelt thought. What should she name the kits? She observed the kits again. The she-cat's pelt looked like a morning sky, with the sun rising on her. "Morningrise," she decided. Why not give them warrior names? Not like they were ever going to be warriors anyway. Cloudpelt looked at the gray one again. "Wolfheart." The two kits mewled as if they were responding to their names. She smiled at the kits and napped with them. ~Swiftcloud

Two pelts, gray and gold, rolled in the grass. "Wolfheart, stop it!" The golden one laughed as the gray one tickled the other. Cloudpelt yowled over to them. "Be gentle, kits!" It had been three moons since the queen gave birth to her kits, and now she was bathing in the afternoon sunlight. Cloudpelt and her living family had been growing like any other loner family. She had gotten over Flashfur's death, and no clan cats ever bothered them. Cloudpelt had been able to hunt and work normally again too. Something rustled not far behind her. Noticing this, the gray she-cat walked over to her kits. "Wolfheart, Morningrise," she mewed. The golden she-kit looked up at her mother. "What's wrong? Wolfheart's not hurting me." Cloudpelt gave her a solemn look. "I know," The two kits stared at her, innocent and confused. "But I think I heard something strange nearby, so go inside." Wolfheart and Morningrise ducked into the rock den built into the hill. The den was somehow made by natural causes, and Cloudpelt didn't notice it during her kits' birth. The gray she-cat sniffed around behind where she heard the noise. After a moment of searching, she realized the cat--yes, that's what it was--was hiding in a tunnel that Cloudpelt didn't know very well. "I know you're there," she said. "You might as well come out," Taken by surprise, a ginger blur hurled out of the tunnel and threw Cloudpelt onto the ground. Once the two cats were able to see each other clearly, they opened their mouths in surprise. "Buzzardwing?" "Cloudpelt?" ~Swiftcloud

The ginger she-cat smiled at Cloudpelt. "I just can't believe it's you!" Buzzardwing mewed excitedly. Golden paws suddenly clung onto Cloudpelt's leg. "Who's Buzzardwing?" Morningrise said the name in a strange way. Right on cue, Wolfheart waddled over as the queen looked for him in curiosity. The queen murmured to her kits. "Didn't I tell you two to stay inside until I said you could come out?" This made Buzzardwing purr in amusement. She looked down at the kits. Then at Cloudpelt's stomach. "Are these the ones you gave birth to?" She whispered. The gray cat flicked her tail. "Yes." Buzzardwing gave her a worried look. "Alone?" Cloudpelt nodded. "We must take you to a medicine cat!" The ginger she-cat stood. "Can't she see that I'm fine?" the gray queen thought. Buzzardwing was panicking over such a little thing. "Oh, no, no, Buzzardwing. I'm fine. I promise!" Seeming unconvinced, she quietly mewed, "Oh, alright," she gave up. After a moment, Wolfheart yowled. "Ok, what just happened!" Morningrise supported him, mewling. "Yeah! You two were all over the place." ~Swiftcloud

Cloudpelt felt pity for them and explained. "Morningrise, Wolfheart, this is Buzzardwing. She is...a cat I've met." Both kits sniffed her thoroughly. Buzzardwing continued the conversation between her and Cloudpelt. "Anyways, is it okay if I stay here for a day or two? I couldn't find a good shelter since the rouges attacked." Morningrise looked up and cocked her head to one side. "Rouges?" She looked to her mother. "What are rouges?" Cloudpelt, now aware of what her kits could learn, told them, "Why don't you play near the den?" Frowning, they hopped over to the den and started talking. The gray she-cat replied to Buzzardwing's question. "Sure." ~Swiftcloud

As the moon shone over the Cloudpelt's territory, a shape moved along the taller grass further from the queen's territory. The white she-cat that comforted Raven three moons ago peeked from her hiding spot, looking at the rock den ahead of her. A calico head appeared beside her own. "You know what to do, Ice," he started. The white cat nodded, still looking ahead. The tom stood in the direction of Ice's tail, which was straight in the opposite direction of where she stared. "Don't come back until tomorrow night." The calico bolted off, his scrawny frame noticeable. Ice was assigned to spy on the gray queen and whoever was with her. The white she-cat crept closer until she could see who was in the den. There was the queen with two kits wrapped around her tail. "She gave birth!" Ice thought. The queen could be killed now. It was tempting to kill her right now, in fact, but she remembered her assignment and was determined to do it right. Ice crept quickly up onto the hill that the rock den was part of. She made a nest high enough that she wouldn't be seen, but low enough that she could watch the cats. Ice yawned and went to sleep. ~Swiftcloud

Cloudpelt stretched, rising out of her nest. Her kits and Buzzardwing were still asleep. Walking out of the den, she went to where she usually hunted, which was by a river. She raced through tall grass until she got there. After hunting for a while, she stopped by the river for a drink. A mouse, a thrush, and a sparrow laid at her side. Then Cloudpelt picked up all her catches and headed back to the rock den. Buzzardwing sat in front of the den as the kits played. Morningrise mewed. "Ok, now I'll be the cat and you'll be the mouse." Wolfheart darted off, and Morningrise chased him in circles. The two laughed as they ran. Cloudpelt lay her thrush in front of Buzzardwing. The ginger cat smiled. "Thanks." She started eating. Cloudpelt licked her paws and back, watching her kits play. Then Flashfur came into her mind. "Are you proud of our kits, dear?" Tears welled up in the queen's eyes. She could only recall the brave tom's death in the pond, when he was drowned by a rouge. She quickly fought back her tears as Buzzardwing padded over. The ginger she-cat twitched her ear. "What's wrong?" Cloudpelt looked away, the tears coming back. Buzzardwing only went further into the concept. "Is this about Lunaclan? Do you miss anyone?" The queen did nothing. The ginger she-cat sighed, continuing. "Perhaps our leader, or Soaringblaze, or Honeycloud, or Yellowpaw, or Comfreykit..." She kept on naming several Lunaclan cats. The queen hadn't responded to anything. "Nothing jumping out at you yet? Ok, how about Pipitclaw, or Flashfur--" Cloudpelt's tail jutted up, and her ears were facing straight behind her. "Enough!" she hissed. The tears made their way down the gray cat's face now. "I miss everyone, ok?!" she cried. "Especially Flashfur," Buzzardwing stepped back, unaware of how harsh the answer would be. "Oh,ok.." She turned to the rock den. "I-I didn't know. I'm sorry." A ginger tail brushed the ground behind it as Buzzardwing entered the den. Cloudpelt looked down at her paws. Lunaclan was gone now. It was never coming back. This was something that would change her life forever. ~Swiftcloud

That night, after Cloudpelt, Morningrise, Wolfheart, and Buzzardwing went to sleep, Ice got rid of her nest and carefully sneaked back to the rouges. She crawled into the tunnel in the Twolegplace and eventually got to the rouges' camp in the alley. In the main room, there were some cats sleeping, and the prey pile had new catches: two mice, a skinny thrush, a robin, and a rat. Smelling her scent, Fox woke, stretching and then mewing to Ice. "How was it? What did you see? What did you learn?" The white she-cat sat down. "The queen, or Cloudpelt--that was her name--wasn't alone. A ginger cat called Buzzardwing was with her. So were two kits--Morningrise and Wolfheart. The kits were most likely to be the queen's. Wolfheart was gray like his mother and Morningrise was a golden tabby, like how her father must be." Fox looked satisfied with Ice's information. His green gaze burned into her's. "Anything else?" The white cat nodded. "Listen to this--Cloudpelt started crying, grieving her clan, and then Buzzardwing started named a bunch of Lunaclan cats. There was Soaringblaze, Honeycloud, Pipitclaw, and even some younger cats like Yellowpaw and Comfreykit," Fox only nodded. "Although, the name Flashfur made Cloudpelt cry even more, and she sent Buzzardwing away. 'I miss everyone, ok?! Especially Flashfur,' Ice mocked, using Cloudpelt's exact words. Fox laid back down and yawned. "Very well. Eat in the morning." The rouge leader went back to sleep. Ice laid next to a russet she-cat and slept. ~Swiftcloud

As the sun rose, Buzzardwing went down the path that headed toward Moorclan camp without knowing it. She was sniffing out a scent she didn't know. It was a cat, though. After treading long away, possibly close to Moorclan camp, she spotted three cats walking in the distance. Buzzardwing smelled the air. Oh no--she had gone into Moorclan's hunting grounds! Silently darting away, she got out of the area as soon as she could. Buzzardwing burst into Cloudpelt's territory, panting. Startled, Cloudpelt turned to her. "What happened, Buzzardwing? You look as if you just got mauled." ~Swiftcloud

Great--Buzzardwing hadn't come up with an excuse, either! Giving a fake smile, she mewed. "Oh, I was just looking for places to hunt. No worries." Cloudpelt turned to the rock den, looking unconvinced. "Alright then," she mewed slowly. "The kits are taking a nap, by the way. I'm going hunting now that you're here." The gray she-cat bounded off into the tall grass. Buzzardwing all of a sudden craved mouse. She got the urge to go hunt, even if it meant going back to risky places near Moorclan territory. But no. If she went, the kits would be left, unguarded, and with nothing but each other. Buzzardwing took a shrew from the prey pile and laid down in front of the rock den. Taking a bite, she thought of the strange scent. Could it be that a Moorclan cat came in the middle of the night? Maybe the rouges were looking to claim more territory? If so, she, Cloudpelt, and the kits might not be safe here. ~Swiftcloud

Within many moons of hunting alone, Cloudpelt and her denmates have adjusted to their new home. All four cats have been peacefully thriving in their territory away from the clans. As Cloudpelt yawned in her bedding, a lifeless rabbit fell right in front of her paws. "Morning," A large gray tom stood at the den entrance, smiling at Cloudpelt. Cloudpelt sat up to eat her breakfast. "Good morning, Wolfheart," The middle-aged mother she-cat took slow, enjoying bites of the rabbit. "Anything happen?" "Morningrise is looking out for intruders on the mound, and Buzzardwing is eating. Normal beginning of the day." Cloudpelt sighed and smiled. "Good," she mewed. Wolfheart walked out of the den he and his denmates shared and sighed. He turned to see his golden tabby sister sitting on top of the mound, the base of the cats' little camp. Always so serious at work,' Wolfheart thought. Despite Morningrise's fun and cheerful personality, she always took assignments and tasks very seriously. A dark ginger cat came up to Wolfheart. "Morning, Wolfheart!" she greeted him cheerfully. Buzzardwing had joined Cloudpelt's group back when he and Morningrise were only kits. The she-cat and Cloudpelt were revealed to be good friends from his mother's Clanhood. It all started when Buzzardwing had unknowingly attacked Wolfheart's mother, and so the two cats recognized each other and reunited. "So," Buzzardwing started. "Perhaps you could go hunt? When you're living in a small place like this, theres no such thing as enough food!" Wolfheart nodded. He had enough energy and strength to go out. As he made his exit, Buzzardwing called. "Good luck! Be careful!" Wolfheart glanced back one last time before walking out. ~Swiftcloud

Wolfheart looked up at the sky. He had gone a little while past the pond he and his denmates drank from. Smelling for scents in the air, he noticed mouse scent nearby. Crawling, Wolfheart followed the scent to a hollow tree. Looking down at the open hole in the tree, he found a mouse half-hidden in undergrowth and shadow. Wolfheart crouched silently in the grass. He'd have to wait for the mouse to come out if he was to have a chance to kill it. After a few moments, the mouse had come out into the sun, and Wolfheart jumped out of grass. The mouse squeaked in fear and ran back into the tree. Wolfheart looked at his paws. 'Nothing,' he thought. All that was there was grass and dirt.

Morningrise looked down at the land beyond Cloudpelt's territory. Ever since she had heard about the rouges' destruction to her mother's old home and occupation, Lunaclan, she knew to be wary of strange cats. Morningrise didn't notice as her mother walked up to her. "How is it going with the territories?" Morningrise flinched in surprise as Cloudpelt spoke to her. She mewed, "Good. I haven't seen ant cat yet. But I still think I should keep watch." Cloudpelt just closed her eyes and smiled. "Oh, Morningrise," she started. "You've been doing a great job. Let me take over. You've been here since dawn, my dear." Flattered by her mother's admiration, she obeyingly took a step back. "Thank you, I'll be eating." Smiling at each other, mother and daughter saw to their tasks. Morningrise took a sparrow from the prey pile and lied down next to Buzzardwing, who was just relaxing. Morningrise offered her meal, but the ginger she-cat refused, saying she had already eaten recently. As the golden tabby took a bite out of her sparrow, Buzzardwing mewed. "How was your watch?" Morningrise looked up to meet her emerald green eyes. "Alright. I didn't see any cats. But I'm honestly kind of worried." Buzzardwing's next expression reflected Morningrise's. "Why? Something happen lately?" she mewed quietly. Morningrise responded, looking back down. "Remember that story Cloudpelt told me and Wolfheart when we were, like, 7 moons old?" Buzzardwing nodded. "What if that happens here? Lots of the other cats around here seem like threats," Morningrise continued. Buzzardwing laid her tail on Morningrise's back, probably to give comfort. "Don't worry...you're not alone. Wolfheart, your mother, and I are all watching out for each other. We're all scared too." The golden tabby yawned. "It's getting late, where's Wolfheart?" Buzzardwing shrugged. "Scarce prey? If so, we have to start hunting more throughly before all the prey dies off or gets eaten." The two cats stood. Buzzard wing stretched and Morningrise went into the den. "If that's the case, maybe we should be heading to sleep early so we can catch the most prey out of all the other cats." Sitting in her nest, Morningrise had some last thoughts. Where was Wolfheart? Were any unknown threats closing in? ~Swiftcloud

A force pushed into Wolfheart as he finished giving a rabbit the killing bite. He fell into the dust, weak, letting a paw with unsheathed claws hold him down. A she-cat's voice arose from the looming shadow above Wolfheart's body. "Give up the rabbit! My group needs it more than you do." Sheathing her claws, a black cat with white paws and belly let Wolfheart out of her grasp, although she still blocked the prey from the tom's path. Wolfheart opened his mouth. "I was stalking it too, you know," He started brushing the dust off his fur. The she-cat glared at him, unimpressed. "Of course you were. You wouldn't have all that dirt in your fur if not." Wolfheart's gaze softened, but stayed stern. "I don't think you should be so close to my group's territory." The other cat scoffed. "Excuse me, but YOUR territory? I think you've come from quite a while away." Confused, Wolfheart looked behind him. Hadn't he stayed near the pond, right where he should always hunt? His eyes widened, realizing he had strayed far, the pond just at the point of fading away from sight. As Wolfheart became speechless, the other cat took advantage. "Hmm? Well, you better get going. You're not just out of place, but its also getting late. Bye." The cat bounded away! taking the rabbit with her. Wolfheart couldn't help but just stare after her. That cat interested him. A shame that he didn't even get her name. As the moon rised, Wolfheart dug up a stash of prey at the pond he had saved for afterwards. Picking up the squirrel buried, he walked back to Cloudpelt's camp. ~ Swiftcloud

From her view on top of the hill, Cloudpelt saw Wolfheart finally returning to camp. She instantly ran down to see him. "Wolfheart!" It seemed as if the gray and white-bellied tom had expected this type of reaction. He lay his squirrel at his mother's paws and mewed an apology rapidly. "Sorry to make everyone worry about me. I hadn't realized that I'd gone further than usual!" Cloudpelt's eyes widened. "Further than usual?" she repeated Wolfheart's words slowly. "Yes." Wolfheart replied quietly. Cloudpelt's stomach went into knots. What could've happened to her son while he was gone? "Did anything happen to you? Did you encounter anyone?" Wolfheart looked down. "I had only realized that I went past our known territory, and so I rushed back." He nudged the squirrel he had given his mother. "I also caught this before then, if you were wondering about that," He looked up at Cloudpelt, his eyes telling that he hoped she would dismiss him. Though unconvinced, she only calmed her gaze and mewed, "Fine then," The fluffy gray she-cat let him go and nodded toward the hill. The gray and white tom understood, and bounded past Cloudpelt, setting his squirrel on the prey pile, which was fair in size. He sat, distant from Buzzardwing and Morningrise, who were chatting. As Cloudpelt walked to the den for a nap, she noticed Wolfheart's unusually dusty coat. She came over and pointed out his hygiene. Wolfheart looked nervous as she said this, but Cloudpelt didn't bother to intervene. Wolfheart licked himself rapidly as she walked away, which confused her even more. Morningrise and Buzzardwing had glanced at him worriedly a few times, but neither cat said anything. Cloudpelt sat in her nest and yawned. She took a nap, Wolfheart's strange symptoms still stuck in her mind. ~Swiftcloud

Wolfheart stared at the den as Cloudpelt walked into it. When she was gone, Wolfheart quietly sighed. He knew that Cloudpelt didn't believe his story, and she shouldn't have. As his mother examined him he had realized his careless mistakes, one scary moment to the next. And although Cloudpelt didn't know about this, the encounter with the strange she-cat was on his mind too. Even though he was relieved that he had kept the encounter a secret, he also felt bad lying to his family. He only lied about the she-cat he had seen on his hunt to avoid confict and lecture at home. Both elements were ones that would definitely hurt relationships and trust. After all, the she-cat he had seen might've been a rouge, and Cloudpelt felt a special hatred for rouges ever since her Clan was torn apart.....along with her mate and....his father. A paw on his shoulder interrupted Wolfheart from his thoughts. It was Morningrise. "Hey,are you alright? What happened?" The golden tabby she-cat gazed at him with a concerned look. Wolfheart looked away and murmured a reply. "Just go ask Cloudpelt, she knows. I'm sorry." he blurted out. Morningrise, now knowing that something had happened, trotted back to Buzzardwing and whispered something in her ear. Buzzardwing, now looking concerned, wrapped her tail around Morningrise's as she lied down once again. Both she-cats looked toward the den, but didn't go in. This however did make sense. Cloudpelt could be sleeping. For the next few hours, Wolfheart, Buzzardwing, and Morningrise watched the clouds pass by. There was enough prey in camp already, and hunting wasn't urgent. Wolfheart glanced at Buzzardwing and Morningrise, their tails tangled in each other. From their behavior toward each other, they seemed to have a close bond. Cloudpelt was also close with the two she-cats and always tried to look after everyone, including him. And then there was Wolfheart in this group. Reflecting, he realized that he wasn't really involved with his denmates and their lives. Sure, he always hunted and watched the territories for them, and they were but he wasn't really included in any other way. He alone had been looking toward the outside world instead. But now after realizing this, Wolfheart knew he had to do something about it. Starting today, he'd begin caring for his denmates more often and do more kinds of tasks for them. He'd begin growing closer to his family. ~Swiftcloud
